Axe & Bow Land

Development
By Rob from the Shack
Retro Aztec platformer where brothers Axel & Bowie battle ancient darkness with magical weapons, pixel charm & tough arcade challenge.

Step into the mythical Aztec era with Axe & Bow Land, a retro-inspired platformer and puzzle adventure. Brothers Axel and Bowie are chosen warriors blessed with magical weapons — a freezing axe and a divine bow — and the only ones immune to the spreading darkness.

Across six beautifully crafted pixel art worlds (each with five unique levels), you’ll face tricky platforming, intense boss fights, and even shoot ’em up stages. Axel freezes foes into stepping stones, while Bowie blasts through his own action-packed levels. The colorful aesthetic takes inspiration from classics like Rainbow Islands, while the dual game modes give players choice:

Story Mode for a relaxed journey with infinite retries and level saves.

Arcade Mode for hardcore fans who want a true one-credit run.

With branching endings, an Aztec prophecy-driven narrative, and a soundtrack full of catchy retro vibes, Axe & Bow Land is made for fans of old-school platformers like VVVVVV, ElecHead, and the golden age of arcade challenges.
