Forsworn Brings Deep Tactical Combat and Roguelike Progression to Steam With New Demo Launching December 1

By Rob from the Shack

Players looking for a fresh challenge in the turn-based tactical space will want to mark December 1 on their calendars. Forsworn, an upcoming indie project from solo developer Dat of Resummon Studios LLC, is set to release its first public demo on Steam. The game blends thoughtful, turn-based tactical combat with roguelike progression, offering a mix of strategy, synergy, and evolving playstyles.

Inspired by genre heavyweights like Divinity: Original Sin, Baldur’s Gate 3, and XCOM, Forsworn pushes players to create a party that works together instead of fighting as isolated heroes. Every run introduces new builds, new twists, and more challenges that force adaptation. Items and blessings do far more than simply boost stats. They transform abilities, alter mechanics, and allow players to build entirely different playstyles across each attempt.

A World Ruined by the Divine

The story of Forsworn takes place in a realm left broken by a war between gods of light and darkness. Resurrected heroes are sent back into the world under the command of the so-called righteous, but morality is far from clear. Ancient secrets begin to surface. The truth behind the divine conflict becomes murky. Heroes must confront the fate imposed on them and uncover whether the gods are worth serving at all.

Death is only a temporary setback. Each fallen run leads to another resurrection, another chance, and another opportunity to forge a stronger team.

What the December 1 Demo Includes

Players will be able to try a significant slice of the game in the upcoming demo, including:

  • Turn-based tactical combat focused on party synergy and strategic decision making
  • Roguelike progression with new builds, new items, and new surprises in every run
  • Solo play or up to 3-player online co-op, with all players acting at the same time
  • Five playable heroes, each with unique archetypes and evolving abilities
  • A large selection of items, skills, and Blessings that enable countless build combinations
  • The first full Act of the planned three-act campaign
  • A first look at the corrupted world and the divine forces that shaped it

Players who enjoy deep mechanics, long-term progression, and the thrill of roguelike unpredictability will find a lot to explore.
