Lelu Releases First Steam Demo as the Clockwork Adventure Springs to Life
Solo developer Jamie Rowan has released the first playable Steam demo for Lelu, a charming monochromatic action adventure game about a clockwork toy who suddenly gains consciousness and a desire for freedom. The announcement arrives with a brand new demo release trailer that showcases its stylish world and toy sized dangers.
In Lelu, players control a tiny wind up toy who breaks free from the monotony of the factory shelf. The game takes place inside a sprawling toy factory tower filled with puzzles, hazards, strange machinery, and hostile toys that guard every corner. With its clean black and white aesthetic and tight platforming, Lelu blends cute character design with surprising intensity.
The demo invites players to explore the early floors of The Toy Factory, solve environmental puzzles, dodge dangerous machinery, and take on sentient toy enemies as Lelu searches for a path to freedom. Along the way, you uncover new gear and abilities that expand movement, combat, and puzzle solving options.

The deeper you explore, the stranger the world becomes. Haunted basements, waterlogged tunnels, mysterious laboratories, and colossal mechanical titans make each level feel distinct. The demo teases just enough of these areas to hint at a much larger journey inside the factory walls.
Jamie Rowan describes Lelu as a bite sized adventure inspired by classic action puzzle games and character driven indie titles. It focuses on atmosphere, tight navigation, and the emotional charm of a toy finding agency for the first time.
Players can try the demo now on Steam.
