Originally created by the small Spanish team at Anima Project, the Gate of Memories series blends fast-paced combat with deep lore and moral choice systems. This new release isn’t just a minor upgrade. The developers rebuilt both titles for modern hardware, improving visuals, tightening controls and rebalancing gameplay from top to bottom.

Two Games, One World

The bundle includes both Anima: Gate of Memories and its darker companion story, Anima: The Nameless Chronicles. Together they form a complete narrative set in the world of Gaia, told from two connected perspectives. The result is a mix of stylish combat, mystery and light RPG progression that still feels fresh years after the original launch.

Fans can expect higher resolution textures, better performance, improved lighting and updated animations across both games. The Dual System mechanic returns, letting players switch between characters mid-battle, while the Hand of Tanathos power offers devastating special attacks for those who master the timing.

Price and Editions

The remaster is priced at $24.99 on Steam and $29.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with a limited-time 10% launch discount. A physical PS5 edition from SelectaPlay is also available, including both standard and collector’s versions. The collector’s set packs in an art book, soundtrack CD, keychain pin, character cards and full-colour prints — a nice touch for long-time Anima fans.

Why It’s Worth Revisiting

Plenty of remasters update textures and call it a day. This one feels different. The team at Anima Project rebuilt the experience from the ground up, reworking systems and visuals while keeping the soul of the original games intact. Considering the studio is made up of just three core developers, the result is impressive.

If you’re into action RPGs that balance fluid combat with strong narrative and moral choice, this collection deserves a spot on your radar. It’s a chance to explore a world that often flew under the mainstream radar but left a lasting mark on those who discovered it.

Looking Ahead

With the Switch 2 version on the horizon, the remaster opens the door for new players to experience the full Anima saga in its best form yet. We’ll be keeping an eye on how it performs across platforms and whether the team decides to expand the universe further.
