Rob’s Game Shack Is Back – Here’s What’s Next

By Rob from the Shack

Alright then — deep breath. I’m back.

Rob’s Game Shack has officially relaunched after a quiet spell. For those who don’t know me, I started RGS as a not-for-profit platform to support indie games, creators, and studios who deserve a lot more visibility than they often get.

It’s never been about churning out clickbait or chasing affiliate deals — and it still isn’t.

But now, I’m getting serious about building this into something sustainable, fair, and genuinely empowering — not just for me, but for the community around it.

My Goals — Being Open About the Money Bit

I believe in transparency. And I also believe that creatives, coders, designers, and writers deserve to be paid properly for their work — not with “exposure,” not with scraps, and not with guilt.

Here’s the plan:

  • Initial goal: Build up to £5,000/month in sustainable support
(This allows me to pay myself a fair wage and run the site full-time and pay contributors & business expenses etc.)
  • Next goal: Reach £10,000/month
(So I can pay contributors well, bring in freelance support, and start offering direct help to indie devs)

This isn’t a traditional business. I’m not looking to scale it endlessly or cash out. It’s a not-for-profit setup — meaning no one’s becoming a millionaire, and money will go to paying people properly and putting money back into the indie scene.

Long-Term Vision: Funding Games, Not Gatekeeping

My big-picture hope is to help fund indie dev projects directly. Imagine a place where creators can get a small grant to help finish a prototype, buy sound assets, or just pay rent for a month while they wrap their demo.

That’s the sort of impact I’d love this site to have.

But to get there, I’ve got to build the foundations first — and that starts now.

How You Can Help

  • Become a sponsor — If you’re in games, tech, or creative media and want to support something real, drop me a line.
  • Support via Ko-fi — Even small contributions help keep the lights on.
  • Share the site — Visibility matters. Help get great creators seen.
  • Submit your projects — If you’re making something cool, I want to share it.

Final Thought

I’m not here to run a content mill or push ads. I’m here to make a space where people who love making games can be seen, supported, and maybe — just maybe — helped in a real financial way.

So yeah. RGS is back. Let’s build something better, together.
