Abashed

Abashed is a 2.5D, narrative-driven side-scrolling game centred on Issac, a man living with psychosis. After waking up alone one day, Issac sets out to discover what has happened to his missing partner. Along the way he has to face his deepest fears and darkest secrets. The story deals with love, loss, fear and acceptance, and explores themes of mental health. The setting is Issac’s own mind, where the boundary between the real and the surreal is unclear.

The central mechanic involves taking medication, which alters reality and changes the surrounding environment for a limited period. Players use this ability to reach hidden areas, find clues and solve puzzles. The puzzles are interconnected, and they also involve manipulating the environment and collecting and using items found during the journey.

Throughout the game, Issac meets a range of characters, each with their own traits. The game uses a hand-made art style for its environments.
