Cards On The Table

Cards on the Table is a roguelike deckbuilder based on poker. There is no bluffing, and every hand is played to a showdown. Players add cards to their deck as they progress through a series of matches against a cast of unusual characters.

Each suit has a unique power that can affect the player’s hand, the opponent’s hand, or the balance of chips. Alongside the standard suits are new ones, including Voids, which can remove the rank and suit from cards opposite them, and Plants, which spread to neighbouring cards to help form flushes. At the start of each run the player picks four starter suits, and further starter suits are unlocked over successive runs. Hands can extend beyond the usual five cards, with examples such as nine card straights and seven of a kind.

Deck customisation includes raising the rank of cards, repainting them to change their suit, and cutting cards apart and stitching them together to combine their powers. During a run, players can also collect new cards, relics and tarot cards. Relics change how the game is played, and these items can be combined to create synergies.
