Chef Hands : Kitchen Mayhem is a cooking game built around direct control of a single hand. The controls are described by the developer as basic but difficult to master, and players are tasked with preparing food for customers within time limits in a series of different kitchens.

The game features five kitchen settings, each with its own environmental challenge. In the Burger Kitchen, players cook burgers and steaks in a restaurant. The Moving Food Truck has players make breakfast while the vehicle travels along a road, causing ingredients to jump with the bumps. On the Cruise Ship, players prepare sandwiches while the ship rocks and items slide around. The Space Station introduces a low gravity environment with a view of Earth. The Speeding Food Truck has players making burgers on a rough road, where unattended ingredients can fly out of the door.

Money earned during play can be spent on kitchen upgrades, which are intended to improve efficiency and increase earnings. Examples given include faster stove cooking speeds and removing the need to wash plates. The game also supports local multiplayer, allowing tasks to be split among up to four chefs.
