Code Velocity

Code Velocity is a competitive typing game set in New Metropolis, a futuristic city populated by animals. A group of hackers known as the Black Keyers has been interfering with the city’s transport, financial and public safety systems, and the game frames its matches as a contest between those pursuing them and those trying to get away. Players choose to play as either a policeman, whose goal is to catch thieves, or a thief, whose goal is to escape.

Movement is driven by typing. A character’s speed on the road depends directly on how quickly the player types, and a run of error-free input triggers an acceleration effect. Matches also include props such as roadblocks and banana peels, along with a vehicle system that refreshes randomly during play. The game supports three real-time online modes, 1v1, 2v2 and 1v3, with AI players filling empty slots so matches can be started at any time.

The game uses 2D cartoon-style animal characters, with transition scenes depicting the chases and a soundtrack that shifts from relaxed music on the main menu to a faster pace during battles. Over 50 achievements are available, linked to Steam Achievements and Cloud Save, and are earned through actions such as catching thieves, escaping successfully or using props to complete set tasks. Achievements also award in-game currency, which can be spent in a store on character outfits, vehicle skins and skill props.
