Dunebound Tactics

Dunebound Tactics is a roguelite tactical RPG set in a desert wasteland controlled by an Imperial faction. The player leads a crew aboard a fragile ship, following Elios leylines in search of a new life. The ship’s engine runs on Elios, which can be gathered through narrative-driven quests, extracted from the bodies of fallen enemies, or, if necessary, taken from the player’s own crew-mates. Each run is intended to feed into the next: modules and even survivors from a previous caravan’s wreck can carry over, and dynamic world generation changes battlefields, locations and quests between runs.

Combat is turn-based and takes place on fully destructible, reshapable terrain. Players can destroy or reposition cover, erect ice pillars to hinder enemy movement, place explosive pillars, lay mines and traps, or push enemies into pitfalls. Caravan skills can be used to support the party during fights, for example by buffing characters or removing cover. Missions include special events such as a last stand and assassinations of elite enemies. The game features 38 enemy classes across the Imperial and Arcanist factions.

The player’s party is built from 15 classes and 16 traits that modify skills, stats or abilities, with more than 50 modules available to equip as characters level up. Survivors can be found wandering the desert or freed from Imperial captivity and recruited, though the caravan has a limited number of seats. After battle, wounded characters can be healed in the infirmary or have their Elios extracted to fuel the caravan’s engine, leaving them as husks.
