Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat
Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat is an industrial management and economic strategy game played on a 3D globe based on real-world geography. The map is divided into more than 100 regions modelled on real countries and economic unions, each with its own resources and infrastructure. Players extract raw materials, refine them into components and manufacture finished products, choosing where to place each stage of production according to local conditions and proximity to markets.
The game features over 675 resources and products arranged into supply chains. Players set up trade routes, sign long-term supplier contracts and manage imports and exports within an economy where prices change daily in response to world events and the player’s own trading activity. Workforce management covers wages, benefits and staffing levels, and a research tree unlocks new industries, infrastructure and production methods.
A Global Perception system rates the company on financial strength, environmental impact, corporate responsibility and industrial influence. Influence can be spent on company-wide policies that trade off profit against reputation, and pollution can be managed or offset using technologies such as carbon capture and artificial coral reefs. In the later stages, players can contribute to the Ultima Mundi Project, an endgame undertaking to construct a new continent.
