False Hero

False Hero is set in the mountaintop kingdom of Wisdom, in a realm where Death has begun to spread. The player takes the role of a husk of a once-diligent scholar, who a prophecy says will find a legendary mask and destroy an eldritch evil. The player can choose to fight for the gods and fulfil the prophecy, or side with Death as its apostle.

Combat is fast-paced and involves evading enemy attacks, chaining combat arts into combos, and using the power of the gods. The mask lets the player steal skills from defeated enemies, adding to an arsenal of dozens of combat arts. Boss encounters include giant arachnoids, mechanical beasts, dragons and angelic beings, each with its own move set.

The game takes place across large, interconnected worlds that include swamps, ruins and ancient cities. Each area has its own enemies and secrets. Powers gained from the gods are used to solve puzzles as well as in combat. Every land has fallen to Death and been corrupted, and the player decides whether these lands are left to live on or are destroyed.
