Good Heavens!

Good Heavens! is a survival RPG set in Xant-Rar, a world of floating islands left behind by a figure called the Mighty Rar. Players take the role of a Chosen One tasked with exploring procedurally generated islands, dealing with the problems Rar left behind and helping struggling settlements grow into functioning cities. The game can be played solo or online with up to eight players, with co-op built around shared progression and shared exploration. Players can also travel between islands using their own spaceship.

Progression is handled through six tech trees rather than fixed classes. Three are combat-focused: Warfare covers light and heavy weapons and armour, Trickery covers daggers, bows, mobility and precision, and Sorcery covers fire, ice and electricity magic. The other three are world-focused: Homesteading includes farming, irrigation, cooking and carpentry, Exploration includes smelting, fishing, foraging and traversal tools, and Influence includes weaving, gem crafting, brewing and gear and stat upgrades. Players gather and process materials, craft equipment and expand a base of their own with workshops, farms and decoration.

Settlements offer quests and local troubles to resolve, and as cities develop they unlock new inhabitants, services and areas. Each island has its own creatures, resources and local disasters, along with dungeons and bosses such as Mountain King, a troll who wields Rar’s oversized fork and knife as weapons. Survival mechanics are designed to be less demanding than in many games of the genre: food boosts stats rather than acting as a death timer, so hunger does not constantly interrupt exploration or building.
