OPEN UP, MICHAEL!
OPEN UP, MICHAEL! is a first-person exploration and puzzle game built around a recurring ritual involving a door that never opens. Players must place offerings, avoid being seen by the door, and repeat sequences until progress is made, gradually working through five handcrafted rituals set in rooms that change with each attempt.
Core gameplay combines clue-driven puzzle solving with untimed listen-and-repeat memory sequences. Players choose correct offerings, reconstruct a torn hymn, and recall patterns established by the doors in order to advance the story towards room 13. The game includes two different endings depending on player choices and discoveries.
The game features four mirror shards, eight lore documents, and 15 hidden crumbs for players to find. It supports adjustable graphics, field of view, text speed, subtitles, puzzle aids, and audio mix settings, along with keyboard and mouse controls. It is playable in English, German, French, and Spanish, with a first playthrough taking approximately 30 to 50 minutes. The game contains no violence, gore, microtransactions, or live-generated AI.
