Port of Jumanah

Port of Jumanah is a nautical exploration game in which the player captains a vessel across a number of different oceans. Each ocean has its own environment and its own set of species. Along the way the player gathers treasure, deals with creatures found below the surface and moves on to the next stretch of water. The game has now left development and is available on Steam, where it holds a Very Positive rating from more than 100 user reviews.

A central feature is the crew. Rather than sailing alone, the player can recruit friends to the ship, each of whom assists on voyages in some way, though what they contribute is only revealed once they have joined. A cat is also among the possible recruits. Encounters in the water can go in different directions: some characters can be spoken with at length, while others can be fought.

Progression is built around missions. Completing them provides upgrades to the player’s equipment, which in turn opens up further missions. New abilities and gear are unlocked over time and are used during dives into deeper, unexplored areas.
