Revolver 21

Revolver 21 is a narrative card game set in the Soviet Union during World War II. The player takes the role of an employee of АКИМ, referred to in the game as the Commissariat. Their assignment concerns a young soldier named Mikhail, whose behaviour indicates a strong attachment to a game of Blackjack.

The core gameplay is built around rounds of Blackjack played with a fully custom-designed deck. At the end of each round, the loser takes part in a game of Russian Roulette and pulls the trigger. Items provided by the Commissariat can be used to shift the odds in the player’s favour, a mechanic the developer frames as a reflection of government corruption.

Alongside the card play, the game follows a narrative thread in which the player uncovers why Mikhail is present and what he lost along the way.
