Seven Blasphemies
Seven Blasphemies is a traditional turn-based roguelike about surviving the last days of a cursed world. Play takes place on a grid, with the player moving one tile at a time and every action giving the world a turn to respond. The game uses procedural generation and permadeath, and each run is shaped by scarce resources, lethal encounters and the need to pick fights carefully. It has now been released on Steam and holds a Positive user review rating.
The central system is the doom calendar. Each dawn may trigger a new Blasphemy, a permanent curse that changes the rules of the run and stacks with any that came before. Visibility may shrink, healing may weaken and monsters may grow bolder as the days pass. There are seven Blasphemies in total, and when the seventh arrives the world ends. Runs therefore tend to start with cautious exploration and become progressively harder as the world decays.
Players choose from six classes, each built around a distinct style of play. Enemy types are designed to be readable and mechanically distinct, presenting different problems around when to engage, flee or spend a resource. The design draws on old-school tabletop RPGs and traditional roguelikes, with an emphasis on scarcity, risk and consequence. The visuals use minimalist pixel art with a limited colour palette to convey an apocalyptic setting while keeping the battlefield readable.
