Soggy Beans
Soggy Beans is a side-idler built around watching fish arrive at and leave an underwater scene, in a manner the developer compares to bird watching. It is designed to run alongside other activities such as checking emails, sitting in meetings or playing other games, and can be played for as long or as short a time as the player wishes. The stated aim was to provide a low-intensity alternative to watching videos or scrolling.
Fish of various shapes and sizes come and go on their own schedule. When a new one appears, the player can record the sighting in a journal, which tracks every fish seen and lets the player update individual profiles over time. Photos can be taken of any fish and either set as profile pictures in the journal or used as stickers in a scrapbook. Fish also interact with a bean machine, and the beans they occasionally knock loose can be collected by the player.
The scene itself can be decorated with a range of furniture pieces. Items can be stacked, saved as blueprints and combined with different backgrounds. Each piece of furniture changes the mood of the seascape and can help attract particular fish to the area.
