Star Birds

Star Birds is a factory building and resource management game in which players scan and claim procedurally generated asteroids to mine resources such as ice and metals. Buildings are placed across the 360-degree surface of each asteroid, with production facilities connected by pipes to create automated manufacturing networks. Players deliver finished goods to a space station to complete quests and progress through a campaign that spans multiple star systems, each with distinct environmental conditions.

Core gameplay involves gathering raw materials, transforming them through production chains, and optimising the layout of buildings on irregularly shaped asteroids. As players advance, they can research new technologies, unlock additional production paths, and establish transportation routes between asteroids to expand their network. The game also includes exploration elements, with hidden artefacts and story elements tied to a mystery that unfolds across the campaign.

Additional features include a collection system for items found during play, bonus challenges with medals for optimised setups, and an achievement system. The game uses a hand-drawn art style influenced by the Kurzgesagt animation studio, which co-developed the title alongside Toukana Interactive, the studio behind Dorfromantik. Star Birds does not include multiplayer features, 4X strategy elements, or realistic physics simulation.
