Still Wakes the Deep

Still Wakes the Deep is a first-person narrative horror game developed by The Chinese Room. Players take on the role of an offshore oil rig worker in 1970s Scotland who must survive after a disaster cuts off communication and escape routes, while an unknown entity threatens the crew.

The game focuses on exploration and survival rather than combat, as players have no weapons or special abilities. Gameplay involves running, climbing, and swimming through flooding corridors and storm-battered outer decks of the rig, which changes and deteriorates as the story progresses. Players search for surviving crew members while avoiding a hostile presence aboard the structure.

The game features a cast of Scottish voice actors, including Alec Newman, Karen Dunbar, Michael Abubakar, and Neve McIntosh, and includes a soundtrack composed by Jason Graves. Additional features include a Chapter Select option, a toggle for yellow markers, a Silver Screen cinematic filter, and an optional Story Mode that reduces the level of threat during gameplay.
