Stormgate

Stormgate is a real-time strategy game built on Unreal Engine 5 and the developer’s own SnowPlay technology. It is set in a post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe in which humans and their robot allies face two warring alien factions: the demonic Infernal Host and the angelic Celestial Armada. Players choose from three asymmetric factions: the Human Vanguard, the Infernal Host or the Celestial Armada.

The game offers several modes. The story-driven campaign casts players as Heroes, and its Vanguard prologue chapter is free and contains three playable missions. Further chapters are available to purchase, with more planned. In co-op mode, players can team up with friends and use Heroes to take on AI opponents. A ranked ladder is also available, and it does not use Heroes. The developer states that globally distributed servers and Rollback technology are used to reduce lag in online play.

The interface includes streamlined inputs and automatic control groups, intended to suit both newer players and those seeking a high skill ceiling. The Map Editor is integrated into the game client and allows players to build maps, mods and custom games, shape terrain, customise units and share creations with the community. The latest Community Update adds a revised Versus mode with 2v2 matchmaking, more than 40 new maps including free-for-all and Arcade-style custom games, the full release of the Map Editor, visual, sound and quality-of-life changes, and bug fixes.
