A desktop companion app in which a sleeping cat girl sits on your screen and hands you one fortune slip a day, with a one-in-a-thousand chance of drawing a day of great misfortune.

The Doomed Draw (大凶) is a desktop companion rather than a game to be completed. A cat girl character rests in a corner of the screen and, once each day, provides a single fortune slip. The slip contains a short verse or word indicating what sort of day it is, ranging from great blessing to minor blessing. It offers no instructions or tasks, and the developer describes it as something read before getting on with whatever you were already going to do.

The central mechanic is the daily draw. Each day has a one-in-a-thousand chance of producing a day of great misfortune. When this happens, the cat girl changes her expression and does not speak or offer comfort. The developer frames this rare result as a prompt for the player: if there is a decision they have been putting off, they can wait for a day of great misfortune to act on it, on the reasoning that the day is unlikely to get worse. If that day never arrives, the suggestion is that the decision may not have needed rushing.

The character can be dragged around the screen with the left mouse button. Right-clicking her brings up the current day’s fortune slip, and left-clicking the slip opens a fortune panel with an explanation of the result. The cat girl can be shown or hidden with Alt+Q, and the fortune panel with Alt+H. She also occasionally hands over small items. There is no win condition and no progression system; she remains asleep on screen and provides one line per day.
