The Piper of Dawn
The Piper of Dawn is a dark fantasy management RPG developed by Bone Nail Studio, set in the isolated Diamond City. The player takes the role of an alchemist who grows magical crops and runs a shop while building relationships with six supernatural factions, including the merchants of Commercial Street, the Silver Key Fae, the followers of the Goddess and the devotees of the Witch. The story branches into multiple routes with several possible endings, shaped by the player’s choices and reputation. There are more than 40 named NPCs and six central heroines, each with her own relationship path. The game is the studio’s fourth title and a sequel to Yog-Sothoth’s Yard.
The farming system includes over 100 crops, each with distinct growth stages and trait modifiers that can be combined across harvests. The plantation can be extended from the surface into subterranean biomes with their own terrain effects, and alchemical circles can be placed to increase yields. Shopkeeping involves designing and decorating a shop and choosing display stands for crops, potions and rarer items; as faction reputation rises, non-human customers begin to visit and may post special orders. Repetitive tasks can be delegated to Peoplesprouts, a workforce divided into Farmers, Retailers and Manufacturers, each assigned according to their talents. Overworked Peoplesprouts lose Sanity and must recover in dedicated dwellings, and unwanted ones can be released.
Alchemy progresses through a Tree of Life skill system and follows a rule of Equivalent Exchange, with unstable elemental combinations producing unpredictable outcomes. Alchemy can be used to mass-produce goods or to transmute junk into new abilities for Peoplesprouts. The Oracle system is an in-game gacha mechanic that costs no real money; players draw and combine Oracles from ancient and outer gods to gain bonuses during each time rewind. Additional activities include Blackjack against NPCs at the Golden Cage, with saving and loading permitted, and fishing at locations ranging from the city fountain to Drowning Lake, where catches can include fish and, occasionally, an Ancient God.
