The Resonant
The Resonant is a turn-based tactics RPG set in a world where every character is blind. Players control a warrior known as the Resonant, who perceives the surroundings through vibrations rather than sight. The story follows this character through the politics and conflicts of the region, with choices affecting the course of the narrative.
Core gameplay is built around deduction mechanics similar to Minesweeper. Players use numbers displayed on grid cells, along with the Resonant’s abilities, to work out which tiles conceal enemies and to anticipate their movements. Tiles believed to hold enemies can be marked before the player commits to an attack, after which the outcome of these deductions plays out across the battlefield.
The game also includes systems for manipulating the battlefield, such as setting traps and altering enemy orientation, movement and behaviour. Sound plays a role in combat, as attacks and movements create noise that enemies can detect and investigate, allowing players to lure them into prepared traps and exploit moments of vulnerability.
