The Sinking City 2

The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror game developed by Frogwares. It is set in Arkham, a New England port city in the 1920s that has been overtaken by a supernatural flood. The player character is searching for a woman whose soul has been trapped in the Dreamlands after a failed ritual, and whose body has since been taken by hostile forces. The story follows a route through the flooded city towards the source of the disaster.

The game is built around resource management, inventory limits and puzzle solving. Players travel through the city on foot and by skiff, and unlocked shortcuts allow them to return to earlier areas for supplies and upgrades. Enemies include the Slither, which reanimate the dead, Deep Ones that emerge from the water, and Shadows that distort space. Some encounters are intended to be fought directly, while others are designed so that the player withdraws, adjusts their equipment and returns later. Locations mentioned include a hospital, a fish market and areas beneath the city.

Investigation is a separate strand of play that reflects the studio’s earlier detective titles. Players examine ritual traces, read journals and gather clues, and can take on optional cases. These cases are not required to progress the main story but can open safer routes and provide supplies and weapon upgrades. One new DLC item has recently been added to the game’s Steam listing.
