The Sinking City 2

The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror game set in Arkham, a 1920s New England port city overtaken by a supernatural flood. Players explore tide-damaged districts on foot and by skiff, uncovering shortcuts, hidden supplies and upgrades while managing limited resources and inventory space. The setting includes locations such as a hospital, a fish market and areas beneath the city where otherworldly creatures dwell.

The story follows a protagonist seeking to rescue a woman whose soul has been trapped in the Dreamlands after a failed ritual, with her body taken by malevolent forces. Progression involves navigating the flooded city toward the source of the disaster, encountering enemies including reanimated corpses controlled by beings called the Slither, aquatic creatures known as Deep Ones, and shadow entities that distort space. Combat can involve direct confrontation or tactical retreat to resupply and adjust equipment.

Exploration and investigation are central to gameplay. Players can examine ritual traces, read journals, and study clues to uncover optional cases. These investigations are not required to progress but can unlock safer routes, additional supplies and weapon upgrades. The game is developed by Frogwares, drawing on the studio’s background in detective games to build a survival horror experience rooted in Lovecraftian themes.
