VOXEL DRIFT RACER
Voxel Drift Racer is a top-down arcade racing game in which every track and vehicle is built from voxels. Its handling uses a velocity decomposition and friction circle model, so tyre grip is a limited resource shared between acceleration and turning, and drifts come from managing load and traction rather than a button press. Three levels of drift assist and steering presets are included for players who are new to the technique. The game contains twelve modes across racing, arena and special categories. Racing modes include Time Attack with a personal-best ghost, a 60-second Drift Trial, Free Run and Grand Prix against up to eight AI drivers with three difficulty settings and optional adaptive difficulty. The six arena modes are Crystal Rush, Storm Survival, Infection, Colour Zone, Boulder Rush and Light Trail. Death Rally uses floating tracks without guardrails, and the Campaign is a championship season against seven fixed rivals with changing tracks and rules each round.
Progression is funded entirely by coins earned through play, with payouts based on finishing position, score, medals and field size, and pilot level gating higher tiers. There are nine cars with differing power, top speed, grip, drift tendency, handbrake bite, steering rate and mass, seventeen parts covering engines, tyres and bodies, five upgrade lines, and bronze, silver and gold medals for every track and mode combination across twelve tracks. The game also includes 34 achievements, daily and weekly challenges, and ghost runs that are saved automatically, can be compared against a weekly top ghost, or exported as a code to share with a friend. The developer states there is no premium currency and no microtransactions.
A large part of the game is its editors. The track editor turns a set of placed points into a circuit using a Catmull-Rom spline, with adjustable road width, elevation, surfaces, guardrails, boost pads, obstacles and scenery, and finished tracks are shared as a single code. The voxel car editor allows cars to be sculpted by hand, generated from side and top images, or imported from MagicaVoxel files, with wheels modelled separately, and custom cars can be given a spec by distributing 33 points across six stats. An arena editor is also included. Online multiplayer runs on official servers for two to eight players, with quick match, room codes, spectator mode, server-side validated leaderboards and live player counts, and custom maps are sent from the host to players who do not own them. The synthwave soundtrack is synthesised in real time rather than played from audio files, with engine and tyre sounds responding to revs and slip angle. Other options include realistic or toon rendering, colourblind palettes, UI scaling, remappable keyboard controls, Xbox gamepad support with rumble, and Korean and English language support. The developer estimates three to five hours for the campaign and over fifteen hours to earn gold on all twelve tracks.
