Windrose

Windrose is a survival adventure game set in an alternative version of the Age of Piracy. It combines building, crafting and survival mechanics with combat and exploration that spans both land and sea. Players take on the role of a captain seeking to challenge Blackbeard, with a story that begins as a personal tale of survival and revenge before expanding into a wider conflict involving empires, pirate clans and supernatural forces.

The game features procedurally generated biomes containing hand-crafted dungeons, quests and points of interest, with over 100 such locations to discover. Players can gather resources and construct settlements ranging from basic shelters to large forts, and may recruit NPCs to assist with harvesting and production. Naval gameplay includes ship customisation, with vessel types ranging from ketches to brigs and frigates, and combat that involves both long-range cannon fire and boarding actions, alongside seamless transitions between ship and shore.

Combat on land uses a range of melee weapons and firearms, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols and muskets, along with parrying, dodging and combo mechanics. Players can customise their combat style through talents, loadouts and armour sets, and use food and potions for temporary buffs. Windrose can be played solo offline or in co-op with up to 8 players, using self-hosted or dedicated servers, though the developers recommend groups of up to 4 players for optimal performance in the late game.
