Above: Colonies of the Mist is a survival colony builder where you’re never meant to settle down. You’re dropped into a hostile land with a deadly mist rolling in, and your job is to build up (literally) fast enough to stay above it while sending expeditions down into the fog to dig up ancient technology from a fallen civilisation.
Space and resources are tight, so every build decision counts. You’ll be juggling basic survival needs like logs and berries alongside rarer stuff like Frostheart Ore, all while linking up separate settlements with ziplines and bridges so everything actually flows. Expeditions into the mist are where the real risk and reward lives, with ancient monuments guarded by hulking Custodian Automatons hiding the knowledge you came here for.
The catch is that none of this is permanent. The mist cycle and shifting weather mean you’re always working against the clock, and the land itself is telling you to leave. It’s less about building a forever home and more about smart, temporary footholds, grabbing what you need, and getting out before the mist claims everything you’ve built.
