ARETIAS: Cursed Island
ARETIAS: Cursed Island is a story-driven, single-player first-person horror game. It opens in a remote village on Türkiye’s Black Sea coast before moving to an island that was abandoned long ago but still bears the marks of its past. A mentor communicating over the radio guides the player as they explore, follow clues and try to uncover the truth behind the island’s curse.
The central mechanic is a camera that exposes things not visible to the naked eye, including hidden signs and objects concealed in darkness, and helps indicate the way forward. Progress depends on paying attention to photographs, notes, environmental details and changes in the surroundings. Players travel through forest paths, abandoned wooden buildings, a cemetery, underground caves and ritual sites, each of which holds part of the story. To break the curse, the player must locate scattered bones, solve environmental puzzles and complete a ritual.
There is no combat; observation and exploration are the only tools available, and the game is described by its developer as a slow-burning horror experience built around tension. The locations draw on Türkiye’s Black Sea region, and the game supports Turkish and English.
