BLACKWOOD

BLACKWOOD is a third-person action thriller set in a recreation of New York in 2012. The player controls Anton, who manages a small DVD shop during the day and works as a contract killer in the city’s criminal underworld at night. The story is split into three Acts, each a complete part of the overall narrative, with additional missions released between them. Act 1 is scheduled for 16 September 2026, Act 2 for March 2027 and Act 3 for September 2027. Buying the game includes all three Acts, with later Acts delivered as free updates to existing owners.

Combat centres on gunplay supported by movement options such as dives, rolls and slides. The game also features a large number of contextual takedowns, ranging from hand-to-hand executions to finishing enemies by using objects and features in the surrounding environment.

Outside of missions, the player can manage the DVD shop by restocking shelves, organising inventory, setting prices and serving customers at the counter, or leave it to run with less involvement for a lower return. The shop also serves as Anton’s home, where the player can decorate, change outfits, interact with the apartment and make use of RPG elements tied to his double life. The story follows a cast of characters caught up in conspiracies across the city, with environmental details such as adverts, posters and tattoos contributing to the setting.
