BONETOX
BONETOX is a wave-based arena first-person shooter in which the player fights demons with a range of weapons that includes a chainsaw, a sledgehammer and a grenade launcher. The developer describes the action as taking inspiration from classic FPS games. Runs are scored, and players can compare results with others via global leaderboards or attempt to beat their own previous records.
Resource management is tied to how enemies are killed. Sledgehammer kills grant armour, chainsaw kills restore health, and a type of enemy called a Martyr drops ammunition when defeated. Reloading is manual and discards any rounds left in the current magazine, so reloading early wastes ammunition. Temporary power-ups can be picked up during play and alter the rules of combat while they are active.
The arenas contain environmental traps that change as waves progress; for example, pools of blood can become spike traps. The game includes a gore system with blood decals, bone physics and destructible remains. Progression is handled through a skill tree, which the developer states is designed with replayability in mind.
