A game set in the Pacific Northwest town of Lightford, in which the player investigates a conspiracy across two timelines, 1990 and 1995, using gadgets, a detective pinboard and improvised combat.

Welcome to Lightford is set in a Pacific Northwest town in the 1990s. The player investigates a conspiracy in which several factions have pushed a once-peaceful community into corruption and supernatural disorder. The player gathers clues and draws their own conclusions, using cameras, scanners and a mobile detective pinboard workstation.

The game features a toolkit that includes tasers, grappling hooks and teleportation devices. These can be combined in different ways to solve puzzles and handle encounters. Combat is built around improvisation and experimentation with the available tools rather than raw strength.

The town can be explored in two timelines: the living town of 1990 and its ruined future in 1995. Actions taken in one era have effects in the other, and areas that are closed in one timeline may be accessible in the other. Players can talk to the townspeople and take on quests, some of which lead to dangerous locations. Leaving the main path may turn up useful finds or unwelcome discoveries.
