Boreal Tenebrae Act 0: Sundowning
Boreal Tenebrae Act 0: Sundowning is an atmospheric narrative adventure set in Tamarack Narrows, a declining northern town beneath a crimson aurora. The story is told through the interwoven perspectives of Sarah Walker, her sister Bree, and other townsfolk on the night a centennial celebration meant to revive the community instead unravels into disaster following the arrival of a mysterious visitor.
The game uses fixed-camera exploration, interactive dialogue, and cinematic sequences to guide players through locations including liquor stores, empty streets, church basements, and industrial yards. Its visual style draws on late-90s analog media, incorporating CRT distortion, VHS noise, infrared footage, and PS1-inspired graphics alongside lo-fi video textures.
Acts as a standalone prequel to Boreal Tenebrae: Act 1, expanding the wider series’ world while remaining accessible to new players. The narrative touches on themes of community, class struggle, and cosmic intrusion, supported by a soundtrack that moves between nostalgic warmth and unsettling dissonance.
