BrokenLore: DON’T LIE

BrokenLore: DON’T LIE is a first-person psychological horror game with a Japanese setting. The player controls Junko, a young woman who has withdrawn from society and lives as a hikikomori. Her father was physically present but emotionally distant throughout her upbringing, and after her attempts to connect with others ended in rejection and humiliation, she cut herself off from the outside world. The story begins as events from her past resurface and the line between memory and reality starts to break down.

Play centres on exploring Junko’s apartment and a series of distorted areas nearby. Players piece together her history by examining messages, files and clues found in the environment. An unseen presence monitors the player’s behaviour, so moving carefully and staying hidden are part of progressing. The game alternates between ordinary, recognisable locations and altered liminal spaces that reflect Junko’s memories and fears. The pacing is slow and builds gradually, with a focus on paranoia and perception.

DON’T LIE belongs to the wider BrokenLore series but is designed to be played as a standalone story. The game is produced by Wired Productions. It has now received more than 100 reviews on Steam.
