Cages: Hidden Worlds

Cages: Hidden Worlds is a first-person puzzle escape game. It is set in a decrepit mansion whose walls conceal the remnants of a freak show carnival, along with surreal worlds hidden within the building. The story centres on the fate of forgotten creatures that once performed in the show, and on a force called the Crimson Pulse, which gives life but has unpredictable side effects.

The core of the game is solving complex, original machinery. Players work through tactile puzzles that have multiple layers and a range of different themes. They collect and use hundreds of hand-crafted items to reveal hidden mechanisms. Energy from the Crimson Pulse can be channelled through an artifact known as The Eye, which previous users are said to have failed to wield safely.

The game uses sound and shadow to build an eerie atmosphere, and its audio is designed to draw players further into the mystery. Exploring the mansion and the carnival remains hidden inside it forms the main structure of the experience.
