Throttle Trace
Throttle Trace is a racing game that removes steering from the controls. The player manages only throttle and brake, and each corner is approached by judging when to slow down and when to accelerate. Despite the two-input scheme, the game is built on a racing simulation that models tyre wear, tyre heat, fuel load, dirty air and car balance, all of which affect how the car behaves over the course of a race.
AI opponents are given distinct personalities and behaviours, including aggressive rivals, consistent drivers and those prone to mistakes. They run on the same physics as the player. The career mode spans multiple seasons and tracks the player’s reputation and history, with on-track decisions carrying consequences that persist as the career progresses. Players must earn their seat and manage their standing within the game’s world.
Other modes include a Time Trial with online leaderboards and a lesson-based Driving School intended to introduce the control system. The game supports both short single sessions and longer championship runs. Steam Workshop integration allows players to create or download databases of teams, cars and drivers to use in career mode.
