Catechesis
Catechesis is a Horror RPG that follows Daniel, an altar boy from a fringe religion who becomes possessed by a demon. Every good deed he performs opens a gateway to hell, forcing him to balance virtuous behaviour during the day with battling demons at night in an attempt to save his grandfather’s life without unleashing hellfire on the world.
The game features a day and night cycle in which players attend school and work during daytime hours before venturing into a dungeon at night. Combat is slow-paced and uses a twin-stick aiming system, combining primary ranged weapons with secondary melee options and roll evasion. Stealth mechanics incorporate sound and light detection, while exploration involves using a flashlight or candles to reveal resources, hidden paths and religious lore hidden throughout the environment.
The narrative is presented through anime-style cutscenes and in-game illustrations, featuring a cast of characters alongside the main story. The soundtrack was composed by Michael (Garoad) Kelly, known for his work on VA-11 HALL-A and Yuppie Psycho.
