Cave Expedition

Cave Expedition is a caving simulator developed by Moonmilk Games, a team made up of real-life cavers. The game covers both dry and wet caving, with players descending through tight squeezes, large chambers and flooded passages. It can be played alone or in co-op with up to four players, where the group must coordinate rigging ropes on vertical pitches, find safe routes deeper into the system and manage a return to the surface.

Preparation takes place before each expedition, with players upgrading and customising their equipment. Gear includes helmets and headlamps, climbing ropes, anchors and single rope technique equipment, overalls and clothing suited to different temperatures, scuba gear for flooded sections, and tools such as shovels and winches for digging out and clearing blocked passages. According to the developer, equipment requirements increase the deeper a cave goes.

The developer states that the sounds and textures used in the game were captured during real caving expeditions in various parts of the world, and that the team aims to support a wide range of hardware. Cave Expedition is still in development and all features are subject to change. Moonmilk Games runs a Discord server where players can follow progress, share ideas and take part in playtests.
