Tidy up cosy homes, piece together quiet stories, and see life through the eyes of an immigrant maid in a country whose language she barely speaks.

Clean Start puts you in the shoes of Lena, a maid who’s moved to a new country and is still finding her feet with the language. You spend your days cleaning and organising other people’s homes, and along the way you start piecing together little stories from the objects you find scattered about. No dialogue tree spells it out for you either, it’s all about noticing the details and drawing your own conclusions.

There’s no timer, no game over, nothing chasing you. It’s just you, a messy room, and the genuinely nice feeling of putting things back in order. That’s the whole point really, it’s a game built for winding down rather than winning.

What you find while cleaning also shapes your own space back home, since you get to furnish your rented flat with items and gifts you pick up along the way. The game draws on real immigrant experiences, so alongside the cosy tidying there’s a quieter, more honest story running underneath about starting over somewhere new.
