The Bird of the North

The Bird of the North is a deduction game with a stated playtime of 120 to 160 minutes. It is set in 1921, in a world where an ice age has brought the Industrial Revolution to a halt. As the cold worsens and tensions rise, an expedition is organised to look for a solution. The story is presented through a series of visions involving birds.

Players explore each scene freely using a simple movement system. Each character is represented by a single sentence, and players must interpret the context and work out what happens in every vision. Using the characters and the scenes they have explored, players assemble the story by completing an investigation board.

The investigation board is organised around locations, clues and the timeline of the visions. Completing it requires players to arrange events in chronological order, making the game a chronological survey of the story as well as a deduction exercise.
