Graytail
Graytail follows a pilot who crash landed on a remote island, and it’s your job to track him down. The catch is the protagonist’s dealing with awful headaches and needs his medication just to keep going, which adds a nice bit of tension to every step you take. Clues are scattered all over the place and the villagers drop hints in their chatter that are worth listening to properly, because the story you piece together isn’t quite what it seems at first.
We built the puzzle solving around physics, so instead of hunting for the one obvious solution you get to mess about with objects and find your own way through. Combat’s got a good bit of depth to it too, with over 8 weapons ranging from canes and umbrellas to crossbows, plus combos, heavy attacks, spin attacks, parries and dodges to keep fights feeling fresh. The bosses are the real test though, since you’ll only get past them by learning their patterns rather than just button mashing.
The island itself is split into 5 themed regions, each with its own look and feel, and you get to zip between them on a motorbike. It’s all wrapped up in proper vivid 2.5D pixel art, which makes exploring the place a treat on its own. Between the atmosphere, the secrets buried in conversations, and the truth waiting at the end, Graytail gives you plenty of reasons to keep digging.
