Crime Podcast: 1976 is a first-person psychological horror walking simulator in which the player controls Thomas Hayes, an FBI Special Agent, during his final evening before retirement.

Crime Podcast: 1976 is part of a series of psychological horror games drawing on real stories of people who committed evil, became victims of it, or ended up in difficult situations. The player takes the role of Thomas Hayes, a 63-year-old FBI Special Agent who returns home after his last day of service before retirement.

Hayes needs to prepare documents kept at his home so they can be transferred to the Bureau. Evidence that he chose to hide many years earlier turns the evening into a nightmare. The game is described as primarily a first-person narrative walking simulator, with exploration, work and dialogue mechanics.

Listed features include a storyline based on a real case, outcomes in which survival depends on the player’s actions, atmospheric sound design, and an environment built around detail to support immersion.
