Solve a murder undercover as a ballroom dance teacher, one waltz at a time. Sometimes the truth only comes out on the dance floor.

Dance Dance Detective is a mystery game set on August 9th, 1986, aboard a private cruise ship. Players take on the role of Detective Gene Burning, who goes undercover as a ballroom dance instructor to investigate the murder of Stephanie Delafontaine, chief science officer of the Bolero Chocolate Company.

Gameplay centres on creating custom dance choreographies by arranging dance moves, then teaching these routines to characters aboard the ship while keeping on beat through a rhythm minigame. Alongside the dance lessons, players collect and combine clues gathered from the ship’s cast of characters to piece together the circumstances of the murder and identify the culprit.

The game features handmade pixel art inspired by DS and GBA titles, and its dance choreography system was designed with input from a certified ballroom dance teacher, incorporating real ballroom dance moves into the gameplay.
