Deadzoned
Deadzoned is a traditional turn-based roguelike set in a science fiction world. In the year 29XX, a nanite plague has spread across the star colonies and triggered interplanetary wars. On the planet Celestious, survivors search underground areas known as Deadzones for supplies and lost technology while contending with bandits, beasts and monsters that emerge during blackouts. The player takes on this role, descending through the zones and fighting a range of opponents including critters, gangs of outlaws, cultists and larger monsters.
Each zone is procedurally generated, with a different layout and a set of random events on every run. Players collect damaged weapons and gear, interact with ancient machines to strengthen their character, and decide whether exploring a zone fully is worth the risk given their ammunition supply. There is no item weight limit, so any weapon found can be carried. Defeating enemies grants XP, which is used to level up stats and choose Talents. Several character classes are available, including Bounty Hunters, Psychics, Technomaniacs and the Deprived Wretch, each with its own Talents, stat preferences and levelling behaviour. Optional encounters, such as a cannibal camp or a necromancer’s domain, can be tackled or avoided for additional loot and score, and some zones contain entrances to more dangerous Forbidden or Plagued Deadzones.
The game offers multiple modes of varying length and difficulty, from roughly 20 minute runs to longer sessions, each with its own pools of gear, enemies and end bosses. Every mode and class has a dedicated online Steam leaderboard. A separate collectable card game, Clashful Cards, can be played against the AI or a local opponent. Deadzoned supports mouse and keyboard, gamepad, keyboard only, or mouse only, and includes unlockable hats and skin colours for character customisation.
