Depth of Mind

Depth of Mind is a roguelike deckbuilder that incorporates JRPG elements and a dark psychological setting. Rather than descending through a conventional dungeon, the player moves downward through procedurally generated layers of consciousness. Each layer introduces new rules, and the opponents encountered along the way are presented as ideas, fears and distorted fragments of personality rather than traditional enemies.

The deckbuilding system is built around cards described as thoughts and memories. Players assemble a deck from these fragments, combine them to form synergies, and adjust their approach as the rules of both combat and the wider world shift over the course of a run. Because the layers are generated procedurally and the rules change as the player progresses, runs are intended to differ from one another.

The game frames each run as an attempt to rebuild the self, with the possibility of losing it entirely, and includes meta-narrative elements that question who is doing the exploring. Depth of Mind has moved from development to full release and is available on Steam, where it currently holds a Positive user review rating.
