Dream Draw Dungeons
Dream Draw Dungeons is a top-down action RPG framed around a boy who draws a strange dream and creates a world from it, with the player controlling the drawing. The game is rendered in pixel art intended to reflect how a child would imagine the setting. It spans seven realms: The Forest, The Mire, The Sunscar, The Dead City, The Frostbitten Wastes, The Ashblown Depths and The Blighted Canopy. Each region has its own environment, wildlife, ruins and weather, ranging from wolves and goblins in the woods to sand-buried tombs and a city of the dead.
Every realm contains seven dungeon entrances, such as a bear cave, an old well, a flooded sluice, a burnt mill, a hornet hive and a theatre, giving forty-nine hand-built dungeon interiors in total. Each dungeon holds a guardian carrying part of a gate key, and collecting all seven opens the eastern gate to that region’s boss. The developer states that each boss has its own mechanic: the Fallen King enrages when his shield breaks, the Ashen Queen throws her sword and creates molten pools, and the Frost Golem applies a freezing timer that can only be countered by warming up at four torches, which he extinguishes one at a time.
Character progression uses twenty-one skills across Warrior, Rogue and Holy trees, with ranks allowing specialisation but not full mastery of everything in a single run. Weapons and armour sets are equipped in dedicated gear slots. Each realm also hides an unmarked side quest with a unique permanent reward. A New Game+ mode repeats the story at higher difficulty, returning quest chains, unlocking skill mastery and scaling enemies and rewards with each cycle. Other features include a fog-of-war world map that fills in as you explore, the ability to switch between a 2D sprite view and a semi-3D camera at any time, keyboard, mouse and gamepad support, and offline single-player play. The game has now released on Steam.
