Embrace The Potato
Embrace the Potato is described by its developer as a nothing simulator. The entire game consists of a single potato floating in a cosmic void against a starfield, accompanied by a ticking grandfather clock and a dark ambient soundtrack. As real time passes, the potato darkens, shrivels and grows mould, with the decay running towards a mark of one hundred and twenty one minutes.
The game is built around the refund window familiar to PC players. An [ ABORT AND REFUND ] button sits in the corner of the screen, and the developer states it is part of the joke rather than a straightforward exit, becoming increasingly hostile as the player nears the point of no return. There is no skill element; the game is framed as a test of patience, asking whether the player leaves early or sits through the full collapse. Once the potato reaches its end state, the player can reverse the decay and restore it to its original form.
Players can tumble the potato through 360 degrees while waiting, and a local save keeps progress if the game is closed and reopened. Timed voice cues prompt the player to click the potato within ten seconds to earn specific achievements. Further achievements are awarded for reaching major wait milestones, for full decomposition, and for completing the reversal back to the potato’s starting condition.
