Flood With Friends
Flood With Friends is a co-operative survival game for one to eight players. Each run begins with the crew stranded on an island equipped with a nail gun. Players gather materials and objects from the island, including planks, barrels, doors, bathtubs and a piano, and fasten them together to form a raft. When the flood arrives the island goes under, and the raft becomes the crew’s only means of staying afloat.
Construction is handled by picking up an object, positioning it and nailing it in place. Welded parts fuse into a single rigid hull, and the raft’s listing, rolling and righting behaviour depends on which parts have been attached and where. Fishing is possible anywhere there is water, and the catch doubles as weapons or tools, with examples including a swordfish, a grappling hook, a rocket launcher, a leaf blower, an electric eel, an ink cloud, a boomerang and an ocarina. Between runs, players visit a home island featuring a fisherman selling oars and rods, a shipwright selling boat gadgets, a wise man selling buffs, a fishmonger who buys catches, and a slot machine. Rafts can be photographed and saved as blueprints for rebuilding in later runs, and blueprint codes can be shared with other players.
Multiplayer uses drop-in Steam co-op via invites, join codes or a public games browser, with two to four players described by the developer as the recommended group size. Proximity voice chat is hold-to-talk, with volume decreasing as players drift apart and becoming muffled underwater before cutting out. There are 18 playable characters, including a shark, a donut, a potato, a banana, a hot dog and a zombie clerk. Players who die remain in the session as ghosts and can be revived by crewmates. Each run is different.
