Gate Guard Simulator

Gate Guard Simulator places the player in the role of a new recruit guarding the entrance to a castle in an age of plague and political unrest. Nobles, merchants and peasants must all present valid documents to enter. The player checks each traveller’s papers, including any crests, to establish whether they are genuine or forged, and decides whether to admit them.

Inspection goes beyond paperwork. The player can search for stolen goods and convicts in disguise, watch for signs of disease, and keep up with the news to learn which people or pests are barred from the castle. Different tools suit different checks. A halberd can be used to examine the contents of a cart, a plague mask helps in spotting the ill, and holy water can be sprinkled on suspicious items such as a coffin. Gear is bought with the player’s own wages.
