Guild of Monsters
Guild of Monsters is a lane-based tower defence game developed with the roles reversed: the player controls the monsters while heroes carry out the raids. The story follows Cassidy, a princess who has left her father, the King, and is assembling an army of monsters to take revenge for his actions. Levels are played against waves of the King’s soldiers, who advance along lanes towards the player’s defences.
Each monster acts as a tower with its own behaviour, covering roles such as long-range attacks, close-range combat, protecting allies and generating money. Every monster has four purchasable upgrades divided between two paths, so the player chooses during a level how to develop a unit, for example giving orcs either piercing shots or a faster fire rate. Alongside towers, the player can bring Power Cards into a level. These are magic abilities that can destroy enemies, generate money or buff the player’s monsters, and the game states they require some skill to time and use effectively.
Enemies come in a range of types, each with its own method of getting past defences, and they typically appear in groups rather than alone. A Bestiary lists information on enemies to help with planning, and an in-game shop offers permanent upgrades. The Steam listing gives two sets of content figures: 21 playable levels in one world with 8 monsters, 5 special powers and 10 enemy types, and a larger set of over 300 levels across 10 worlds with more than 85 monsters, over 40 special powers, dozens of enemy types and expanded permanent upgrades.
